Knock 'em for ten with bowling tips
Tip 2 – Spot Bowling
If you want to improve your game you need to stop ‘pin bowling’ and start ‘spot bowling’.
What is pin bowling?
Michael Russell, who has written a guide to the sport, explains the difference between the two techniques. Pin bowling is when the bowler aims directly for the pins.
What is spot bowling?
Spot bowling is where you do not aim for the pins but pick one of the markers on the first 3rd of the lane. This could be an arrow or a spot. You need to practice which one to choose to get your best score.
How does this help?
It’s easier to aim for and hit a closer target.
